| HORSE CAMP APRIL 14-28, SPRING DOWN EQUESTRIAN, located in Portola Valley, offers you the opportunity to spend the week with one of our own horses! Learn how to ride or improve your skills during our one week program. Riders are grouped according to experience, but no experience is needed to attend. | RANCHO DEL LAGO SUMMER CAMPS! Weekly camps start on the following Mondays: June 16th, June 23rd, July 7th, July 14th, July 28th, and August 11th. Come for one or more weeks! Rancho del Lago is celebrating our 10th anniversary this summer. We provide a small, friendly camp opportunity for children ages 6 to 12. We have gentle horses and Welsh ponies, which are appropriately sized for small riders. We teach a classical approach to riding—balanced seat and direct reining—which gives your child a basic training that applies to all types of riding. We have mounted lessons (2 per day), dismounted lessons on pony care, care for tack, grooming and nutrition. We do a trail ride, play games on horseback, and end the week with a fun show! | Summer 2008 Pony/Barnyard Animal Camps. Ages 3 to 12 for beginning level riders. In our "Pony/Barnyard Animal Camps" children will receive a daily riding lesson and the responsibility of caring for their very own pony. In addition to having their own special pony for the week, our campers will learn about and interact daily with all of our farm animals. Each day we will focus on a different member from our menagerie of chickens, ducks, bunnies, pygmy goats, sheep and miniature potbelly pigs. The kids will feed and care for them and study their habits including collecting eggs, helping to trim their hooves, and shearing the sheep. We even feature a "baby animal of the day" each day! The goal of our Day Camp Program is to give campers a fun-filled, safe equestrian experience as we explore the world of horses together. | Grizzly Peak Stables Horse Camp begins on June 16 and June 23 for one-week sessions. Camp is limited to six students with an experienced adult instructor and assistant. Camp is for riders of all levels and special attention will be paid to each rider’s level of experience. Each day begins with grooming and saddling, followed by small group rides in a lesson in the arena, and then each student also has an individual lesson on the lunge line. After riding the campers untack and groom their horses while learning and practicing essential barn chores. Instructors and guests will give talks and demos on horse-related topics.
